Day 31

from Sketchtober by Patrick McMinn

/

about

10/31/2015:

The last one.
A while ago, I composed short reinterpretations of Beatles songs to act as electronic interludes between pieces for the Great Noise Ensemble concert "Taught the Band to Play."
For the last piece, which bridged the gap between "A Day in the Life" and the locked groove collage which ends the record, I re-recorded the gigantic E-Major piano chord at the end of the song, overdubbing 12 pianos in different voicings and varispeeds, and then beat the chord into fractured pieces with distortion and crests of digital noise to end the concert.
This is a recording of that chord, slowed until it's a C# Major chord, the tonic chord of Day 30. I think it makes for a good ending.
