Day 20

from Sketchtober by Patrick McMinn

/

about

10/20/2015:

One of my favorite tricks: simple melody obfuscated and annihilated by waves of overlapping noise crests. In this case, two trumpets playing a simple melody overtaken by modular feedback noise.
This one was really intuitive and satisfying to make, but this sketch in particular is making very clear that I have a set bag of tricks to fall back on when I'm creating quickly. How much of that collection of tendencies and processes is personal style, and at what point does it constitute laziness and a creative rut?
Or: I need some new ideas.
